The lighting of candles in remembrance of loved ones is an impactful, visual ceremony. Our desire is to provide comfort, hope and healing to all who attend. In remembrance of Sept. 11, 2001, Forest Hill Community Outreach presents the Never Forget Tribute, which features a 3,000-piece American flag display and a special exhibit of artwork by local students.

Uniquely inspiring, this hour-long program supports loss of parent, loss of child, and general loss. This is a free and family-friendly community event open to the entire public.

Memorial Day Patriotic Remembrance: 10 a.m. Monday, May 29, 2017

Designed to show dedication and appreciation to local veterans and military members, this family-friendly community event will also include the presentation of awards to the winners of our Youth Essay Contest.

The loss of a mother, child, or other loved one can make Mother’s Day a very sad time of year. In remembrance of those who touched our hearts and shaped our lives, we invite all members of our community to our Mother's Day Memorial Butterfly Release.

Youth Essay Contest: Entries Accepted: April 1-30, 2017

Open to all area middle and high school students, we hope our Memorial Day Youth Essay Contest will inspire young people in our community to learn more about the true meaning of this special day. All contest entries must be presented in a personal essay format with 500 to 525 words on the true meaning of Memorial Day. Six winners of this contest will share cash prizes totaling $1,600!

Our workshop series is focused on practical "next steps" in the healing journey after the loss of a loved one. Each session will feature a local expert to provide advice on different topics, such as healthy cooking, physical and emotional well-being, personal and home safety, financial matters in bereavement, and animal companions during grief. This unique outreach series is FREE and open to ALL in our community, regardless if they were served by our funeral home.

Forest Hill Community Outreach is pleased to commemorate National Hospice and Palliative Care Month by hosting a Facebook “Like It” Campaign to support Crossroads Hospice Charitable Foundation-Memphis.

Forest Hill Community Coat Drive: Sept. 1 - Nov. 1, 2015

Make a difference in the lives of Memphis children and adults in need by donating clean, gently-used coats and jackets in the Forest Hill Community Coat Drive. Donations will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at any of our three funeral homes. To show our appreciation, all who donate in our Community Coat Drive will be entered for a chance to win a $100 Visa gift card. The gift card drawing will take place on Nov. 2, 2015. In honor of our late funeral director Luther Gardner Jr. (1946-2014), all donations will benefit Memphis Salvation Army, where Luther proudly served as an advisory board member.

"The Assassination and Funeral of President Lincoln": Nov. 18, 2014

Forest Hill is pleased to present the authentic replica of President Abraham Lincoln's coffin along with a special program about Lincoln's assassination and funeral by author, historian, and funeral director Todd Van Beck. The evening will also feature special appearances by American Civil War re-enactors including General Ulysses S. Grant portrayed by Dr. Curt Fields. The coffin may be viewed Tuesday, Nov. 18, beginning at 6 p.m. with the program starting at 7 p.m. inside the Kroc Center of Memphis, 800 E. Parkway S. This program has all the essentials of a murder mystery. The difference is that this murder story is absolutely true. Even if you’re not a history buff, you won’t want to miss this event. Lincoln’s favorite dessert will be served afterward. Admission is FREE, however donations will be collected to support the great work of the Memphis Salvation Army. Questions? Grief Support: Feb. 1, 2014

Our group meetings are created to help guide individuals and families through the loss of a loved, and will cover topics such as loneliness, depression, anger and hope. These meetings are free and open to all, not to just those served by Forest Hill. We encourage anyone who is dealing with sadness and loss following the death of a loved to attend.

Cell Phone for Soldiers

Forest Hill is proud to be a drop-off location for Cell Phones for Soldiers, non-profit organization dedicated to providing cost-free communication services to active duty military members and veterans. Donate old cell phones at all three Forest Hill locations.
